My latest book is The One Who Swam With The Fishes.

"A mesmerizing account of the well-known story of Matsyagandha ... and her transformation from fisherman’s daughter to Satyavati, Santanu’s royal consort and the Mother/Progenitor of the Kuru clan." - Hindustan Times

"Themes of fate, morality and power overlay a subtle and essential feminism to make this lyrical book a must-read. If this is Madhavan’s first book in the Girls from the Mahabharata series, there is much to look forward to in the months to come." - Open Magazine

"A gleeful dollop of Blytonian magic ... Reddy Madhavan is also able to tackle some fairly sensitive subjects such as identity, the love of and karmic ties with parents, adoption, the first sexual encounter, loneliness, and my favourite, feminist rage." - Scroll

This morning my mum went for a morning walk and came back with two new friends as she does. One was a man from Bombay who wanted to say hi to K and me. He's been tripping over this one tree, a massive banyan and his whole mission is to make the tree a place where people gather and make music or read aloud, stuff like that. "I have a tree," he told us, and eventually he'll rig lights to this tree and sound and everyone can sit under it, enjoying the tree-ness of it. Since then, we've been looking at trees in new light as well: so many gorgeous trees all ripe for the picking (or like jam sessions.) this is another banyan, not "his tree" but very like. I'd like a tree too. #goanway #lifeisatree
