My latest book is The One Who Swam With The Fishes.

"A mesmerizing account of the well-known story of Matsyagandha ... and her transformation from fisherman’s daughter to Satyavati, Santanu’s royal consort and the Mother/Progenitor of the Kuru clan." - Hindustan Times

"Themes of fate, morality and power overlay a subtle and essential feminism to make this lyrical book a must-read. If this is Madhavan’s first book in the Girls from the Mahabharata series, there is much to look forward to in the months to come." - Open Magazine

"A gleeful dollop of Blytonian magic ... Reddy Madhavan is also able to tackle some fairly sensitive subjects such as identity, the love of and karmic ties with parents, adoption, the first sexual encounter, loneliness, and my favourite, feminist rage." - Scroll

What I'm Reading

I love Penelope Lively (have you read Moon Tiger? It is amazing.) I've read threes books by her so far - - this is the third and the most "generational." It starts in the 30s, pre-war, a young couple falling in love and goes on with their child and their grandchild, the years unspooling in front of us. I love this kind of novel and have secretly always wanted to write one, so always a pleasure to read a well written version. (Took me longer than usual to finish my yearly reading challenge but we're on the last leg! Only 8 books to go. My annual best books I read post will go out in my newsletter later this month so sign up--link in bio--so you don't miss it.) #bookstagram #mrmbookclub #120in2020 #penelopelively #consequences
