My latest book is The One Who Swam With The Fishes.

"A mesmerizing account of the well-known story of Matsyagandha ... and her transformation from fisherman’s daughter to Satyavati, Santanu’s royal consort and the Mother/Progenitor of the Kuru clan." - Hindustan Times

"Themes of fate, morality and power overlay a subtle and essential feminism to make this lyrical book a must-read. If this is Madhavan’s first book in the Girls from the Mahabharata series, there is much to look forward to in the months to come." - Open Magazine

"A gleeful dollop of Blytonian magic ... Reddy Madhavan is also able to tackle some fairly sensitive subjects such as identity, the love of and karmic ties with parents, adoption, the first sexual encounter, loneliness, and my favourite, feminist rage." - Scroll

An almost scary Halloween story in seven photos. Unassuming couple go for a walk in one part of the Ridge Forest (something else I've never done and am making up for now just before we leave.) Beautiful but empty and almost certainly haunted. We look at old abandoned structures. We meet friendly dogs. We see that humans have been there before us (and have eaten loads of Parle G). And yet, we encounter very few people. By 530 it's nearly dark and there's no one in the park any more. Google maps is useless. Visions of the "helpful" board showing us all of Delhi's snakes, including the super deadly krait, swim in front of my eyes. Are we doomed? The green trees seem to crowd even closer together and ominous rustlings go on over our heads. (okay yes it's a city forest but impossible to explain how wild and wooded it feels like you've stepped into Narnia or something and left Delhi far behind.) Eventually K found some sort of structure we could climb and exit into a village from where we caught an auto back to our car. Oh and I found a porcupine quill! Did you know we had them in Delhi? #hauntedwoods #sanjayvan #delhiridgeforest #halloween #datewalk
