My latest book is The One Who Swam With The Fishes.

"A mesmerizing account of the well-known story of Matsyagandha ... and her transformation from fisherman’s daughter to Satyavati, Santanu’s royal consort and the Mother/Progenitor of the Kuru clan." - Hindustan Times

"Themes of fate, morality and power overlay a subtle and essential feminism to make this lyrical book a must-read. If this is Madhavan’s first book in the Girls from the Mahabharata series, there is much to look forward to in the months to come." - Open Magazine

"A gleeful dollop of Blytonian magic ... Reddy Madhavan is also able to tackle some fairly sensitive subjects such as identity, the love of and karmic ties with parents, adoption, the first sexual encounter, loneliness, and my favourite, feminist rage." - Scroll

Happy birthday to my one and only! Perfect life and quarantine partner, not on any social media but that won't stop me from saying BIRTHDAY on here anyway. This is a photo from a trip to Goa three years ago, may there be many future trips for us when this weird year is over! #happybirthday

I bought K a hammock for his birthday on Sunday but he decided to start hammock life early along with other members of our household. (Squishy is kneading it and also closing his eyes when he's rocked, so it's extremely adorable in our balcony right now.) what a great way to see in the Delhi monsoon. We don't have a summer holiday this year but I'm attempting to make the FEEL happen even if I am writing like a demon. #squishytheblackcat #coronavirusdiaries #hammocklife #birthdayweek

More Rilke, this time on why you can't have free copies of my book and the perfect template for my future interactions. I sped read Letters To A Young Poet last night on a whim and also I needed some external inspiration and I'm happy to say it is as useful at 38 as it was at 18 when my mother first gave me a copy as other parents give their children with literary aspirations copies all throughout the world. #rainermariarilke #letterstoayoungpoet #nofreebies #writinglife

God, it's been so long since I've been frivolous. Went to see an equally careful set of friends today. Carried our own wine glasses and hugged only through gestures etc. But I matched my mask to my dress and put on eyeliner for the first time in two months and sat across a table from people I am not related to for the first time in two months. It may be our last time, of course. We could go into another lockdown or get sick or something. But I feel like a large loneliness weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Other people! I'm an extrovert! Who knew? I'm going back into my self isolation now, but I feel less despair already. We will have to resume some sort of life eventually. I guess carefully around other careful people is a good start. #coronavirusdiaries
