My latest book is The One Who Swam With The Fishes.

"A mesmerizing account of the well-known story of Matsyagandha ... and her transformation from fisherman’s daughter to Satyavati, Santanu’s royal consort and the Mother/Progenitor of the Kuru clan." - Hindustan Times

"Themes of fate, morality and power overlay a subtle and essential feminism to make this lyrical book a must-read. If this is Madhavan’s first book in the Girls from the Mahabharata series, there is much to look forward to in the months to come." - Open Magazine

"A gleeful dollop of Blytonian magic ... Reddy Madhavan is also able to tackle some fairly sensitive subjects such as identity, the love of and karmic ties with parents, adoption, the first sexual encounter, loneliness, and my favourite, feminist rage." - Scroll

Today in Photo

A little night walking to pick up a bed. Stopped at a place run by three cheerful girls--and I know, I'm at a great and advanced age but they seemed 12--to eat tacos and amuse then all by asking if they were sisters. Saw this pair of street signs playing rock paper scissors, saw the lights in the water. K complains "why must you pick the coldest places to stop for a photo?" I tell him the prettiest spots are the least sheltered. By the time we got home, him carrying half a bed on his trolley thing, me helping get the bits up the stairs, we'd walked 7 kilometres and couldn't talk any more. #berlinna #ubahn #spree
