My latest book is The One Who Swam With The Fishes.

"A mesmerizing account of the well-known story of Matsyagandha ... and her transformation from fisherman’s daughter to Satyavati, Santanu’s royal consort and the Mother/Progenitor of the Kuru clan." - Hindustan Times

"Themes of fate, morality and power overlay a subtle and essential feminism to make this lyrical book a must-read. If this is Madhavan’s first book in the Girls from the Mahabharata series, there is much to look forward to in the months to come." - Open Magazine

"A gleeful dollop of Blytonian magic ... Reddy Madhavan is also able to tackle some fairly sensitive subjects such as identity, the love of and karmic ties with parents, adoption, the first sexual encounter, loneliness, and my favourite, feminist rage." - Scroll

Last evening in "our" new neighbourhood! We're fully two tourists in Bangalore, walking and gawking. Sitting at the Max Cafe at the Goethe Institut this afternoon to finish off a deadline and it's quite lovely. #traveldiary #bangamore

Merry Christmas from Munnar (the hashtag just writes itself) where we're on a quick overnight trip (birthday present from dad) before we go back to weddinging tomorrow. Lovely weather, lovely resort, we're just staying in with books and board games, because sometimes you just need to chill and not DO stuff, no? Hope all of you are feeling festive in whatever way you need to be. #traveldiary #minnar

Turns out blue hair totally goes with saris as well. My cousin's getting married and since he doesn't have a sister, it falls to me to tie the knot (lol) on the necklace that he puts around his bride's neck, without which, I am assured, the marriage WOULD NOT HAPPEN (but like no pressure guys). This sari was a wedding present to me, one of only three ever made before the mould of the loom was broken so no one else could get one. Talk about exclusive, eh? #traveldiary #sarinotsorry #whatiworetoday

Merry almost Christmas from me and this guy, a Kochi tradition. He's dressed like Santa and burnt at the New Year. For what? I don't entirely know. Save us all from similar rage fires next year. #traveldiary #kochella

Not to be left behind by me in the custom made clothes game, K decided to get some t-shirts printed online with his own designs, so, of course, I asked for two literary tees as well. This is one of them, although this hairstyle and you know, the rest of it, would never be allowed in Gilead. Bonus: bedroom slippers and bedroom Bruno. #whatiworetoday #margaretatwood

Always sad when another birthday is over. Thanks all for your good wishes! Here we are at Sazerac last night which was lovely and we had it practically to ourselves so had a nice old family gab around the table. #birthdayletters #delhidiary

All roads lead to thirty seven. I love my new hair (courtesy @martinawusalon) even though it's super drastic. Look, it's teal! Like a mermaid! #delhidiary #potentialmidlifecrisis #midlifeschmidlife

Two things I love this weekend: Parvati Sharma's very readable, very gossipy life of Jehangir (it's like he's right there!) and this little squidtopus WHICH I MADE MYSELF. that's right, I crocheted it and invented the design (which was a happy random accident) and everything. Who wants to call my old SUPW teacher and tell her that I actually grew up to be Socially Useful AND Productive? #bookstagram #crafty #mrmbookclub

Early birthday present boots from mum, we went to H&M yesterday looking for sweaters but left with shoes instead. This dress is old but has languished at the back of my cupboard for ages, which is a shame because it's Label by Ritu Kumar, and I never wear it, too warm for the summer, too forgotten for winter every year. Today it is seeing its day in the sun! Literally, because out to lunch on this very warm winter's day. #whatiworetoday

Twinning with my day drink at the Times Lit Fest this afternoon. Yes, my eyes look like that when the sun hits them, very demonic. Also! I finally saw copies of my new book and it is GORGEOUS. Please buy it immediately. #delhidiary #authorsofinstagram
