My latest book is The One Who Swam With The Fishes.

"A mesmerizing account of the well-known story of Matsyagandha ... and her transformation from fisherman’s daughter to Satyavati, Santanu’s royal consort and the Mother/Progenitor of the Kuru clan." - Hindustan Times

"Themes of fate, morality and power overlay a subtle and essential feminism to make this lyrical book a must-read. If this is Madhavan’s first book in the Girls from the Mahabharata series, there is much to look forward to in the months to come." - Open Magazine

"A gleeful dollop of Blytonian magic ... Reddy Madhavan is also able to tackle some fairly sensitive subjects such as identity, the love of and karmic ties with parents, adoption, the first sexual encounter, loneliness, and my favourite, feminist rage." - Scroll

New trees for our garden! I asked the gardener to get us a pomegranate tree, I've always loved it for the Persephone story and the other myths around it, and how lovely to have fruit trees in a #terracegarden? He also got us a guava to go with it, and promises we'll see a lot of fruit from each. The guava already has one little fruit on it! The pomegranate is sadly that leafless tree on the left but it'll grow. And next summer, he said he'd get me a little mango tree, the sort that fruits in a pot as well. That'll make up for the hopeless banana tree you see in this picture, which grows taller and taller but will never produce a fruit. Oh wait, that's me as well! #eatwhatyougrow
