My latest book is The One Who Swam With The Fishes.

"A mesmerizing account of the well-known story of Matsyagandha ... and her transformation from fisherman’s daughter to Satyavati, Santanu’s royal consort and the Mother/Progenitor of the Kuru clan." - Hindustan Times

"Themes of fate, morality and power overlay a subtle and essential feminism to make this lyrical book a must-read. If this is Madhavan’s first book in the Girls from the Mahabharata series, there is much to look forward to in the months to come." - Open Magazine

"A gleeful dollop of Blytonian magic ... Reddy Madhavan is also able to tackle some fairly sensitive subjects such as identity, the love of and karmic ties with parents, adoption, the first sexual encounter, loneliness, and my favourite, feminist rage." - Scroll

What I'm Reading

Why is it you lot have never suggested Val McDermid to me before when I was looking for murder mysteries? This just arrived in the mail this afternoon, I only began reading it two hours ago and I'm sadly already halfway through. SUPER CREEPY SERIAL KILLER, but male victims, not female ones for a change and a serial killer profiler ala Mindhunter to track down the criminal. I'm always so pleased when I realise the crime novel I'm enjoying is the first in a series of ELEVEN more books, the latest just out in 2019. Ahhh I'm going to have a good time. Also I bought two more murder mysteries (see Stories) in the same round of book mail so I'm occupied for the next few days, thanks. #valmcdermid #themermaidssinging
