My latest book is The One Who Swam With The Fishes.

"A mesmerizing account of the well-known story of Matsyagandha ... and her transformation from fisherman’s daughter to Satyavati, Santanu’s royal consort and the Mother/Progenitor of the Kuru clan." - Hindustan Times

"Themes of fate, morality and power overlay a subtle and essential feminism to make this lyrical book a must-read. If this is Madhavan’s first book in the Girls from the Mahabharata series, there is much to look forward to in the months to come." - Open Magazine

"A gleeful dollop of Blytonian magic ... Reddy Madhavan is also able to tackle some fairly sensitive subjects such as identity, the love of and karmic ties with parents, adoption, the first sexual encounter, loneliness, and my favourite, feminist rage." - Scroll

Remember last month (yes, I've been waiting for a visa appointment for my entire LIFE at this point) when I got a bunch of fabric from this dusty little market in Noida? Well, this is the first of them! I spotted this polka dot brocade under a pile of others, half hidden, I'd just made my mind to to take this crepe-y green thing but when I saw this, I was instantly sold. Inspired by a white striped dress I own from Fab, I drew a design for the tailor (who is a genius) but removed the sleeves and added a lining for the stiff fabric plus pockets. It'll soften as time goes by but it's really the perfect dress, cool for the summer, layerable for the winter, dress up or dress down as you please. Such fun to make your own clothes! #whatiworetoday
